About Us
Who We Are:
Keep Their Light Shining is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support for parents grieving the loss of a child. We believe no one should have to walk through loss alone—and through the joy, movement, and symbolism of glow runs, we raise awareness and funds to make sure they don’t.
Our Mission:
To provide financial assistance, emotional support, and essential resources to bereaved parents, while honoring the memory of every child whose light continues to shine.
Our Vision:
A world where grieving families are surrounded by compassion, empowered by community, and uplifted through remembrance.
Our Story:
Keep Their Light Shining was founded by Dawn Colyer in memory of her son, Joshua, who passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2024. Joshua was an avid runner and a bright light in the lives of those who knew him. In the midst of profound grief, Dawn returned to running and found comfort in the rhythm of each step. It was during those runs that the vision for Keep Their Light Shining was born—an organization dedicated to honoring children gone too soon and supporting the parents left behind.
The inaugural 5K Glow Run will take place in Benton, Arkansas in February 2026, followed by events in Heber Springs, AR and Brandon, MS—the communities that most shaped Joshua’s life. These events serve as a way to raise funds, foster connection, and bring hope to grieving families.
Keep Their Light Shining invites others to join the mission by organizing additional glow runs in their own communities, helping to ensure that the light of these children continues to shine—brightly, boldly, and together.
